THE STORY: This medal commemorates the 100th anniversary of the building of the Rogers Boy Memorial
Fountain. The fountain was built by Mrs. Caroline Rogers DeVoe as a memorial to three of her fanily members that had recently passed away, but especially for her son who died in his youth from diptheria. The
fountain was originally built in the center of the intersection of 10th and I Streets in Modesto. It was designed to be a fountain
for both horses and people. With the advent of the automobile, the fountain was moved to the County Courthouse park in 1906. It was moved several more times and eventually dismantled
and placed in the Modesto City Corporation Yard. The medal depicts the fountain as it looked upon its initial completion.
