THE STORY: This medal commemorates the 125th anniversary of the S.S. Clara Crow, Modesto's premiere freight steamer. The S.S. Clara Crow was a flat-bottomed paddle wheeler which steamed up and down the areas rivers delivering goods and materials. In 1893, the Clara Crow delivered 200 tons of iron pipe to the Modesto Water Works along with materials for other businesses. The medal depicts the S.S. Clara Crow as she looked, steaming on one of the areas rivers.
